Hi all!
This will be the place where I'll be posting any new hacks I've done, especially the progress on my face detection feature for f-spot, that I'm doing with the Google SoC this year.

-- Edit --
Since my feeds are now syndicated within planet.gnome.org I guess I'll follow the others, and say :

Hello Planet Gnome !!

:D
It's pretty cool to be listed among all the gnome hackers, whose blog entries I've been following for ca 2 years now :)

Excuse me for the impoliteness, but what exactly is the usage case for a face-detecting plugin, other than an being an academical exercise? I can detect faces myself pretty darn well, thank you.

e.g. autotagging. Look here :-). Face recognition is a hard problem, but detection is an important first step.

Well I guess if you can detect faces I bet you can also walk & chew a gum at the same time ;) ?
You can also keep your photos in a drawer, write paper mail and ride a horse instead of a car.
While theese are all very nice features one might say they aren't very up-to-date with current technology, not to mention anything innovative.
Take a look at the proposal for this project (linked by aleander above), I believe there's some more information on the purposefullnes of this feature there.
You welcome :)
